Adr1ft (2016)

ThreeOneZero/505 Games

ADR1FT is an immersive First Person Experience (FPX) that tells the story of an astronaut in peril.

Floating silently amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen, the only survivor struggles to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.

Adr1ft was a day-and-date launch title for the Oculus Rift virtual-reality headset inspired by the real-life career set back of Creative Director Adam Orth

Press

I worked closely with threeonezero’s Creative Director/Co-Founder Adam Orth, Lead Designer Samuel Bass, and Lead Programmer/Co-Founder Omar Aziz to author sounds designed by Skywalker Sound’s Al Nelson in Unreal Engine 4, as well as designing additional sounds.

Technical Sound Design

I leveraged the audio tools in Unreal Engine 4 to create a dynamic mix that supported the narrative’s sense of loneliness in space while transforming user agency into a generative audio soundscape.
